OH-16: John Boccieri Rewind/Preview - July 21

Last week was a busy one for John Boccieri and his candidacy for Ohio's 16th Congressional District seat, but we've come to know that's "The Boccieri work ethic". John is the candidate that will protect the district's middle-class. Let's take a quick look at where John has taken his message to the people.

John started off the week by attending the popular local event "JoyFest 2008" on Sunday. Thanks to the Boccieri surrogates and supporters who were in attendance every day at JoyFest.

This past Wednesday John met with veterans at VFW Post 1036 in Alliance.

Our campaign finished the week of activities with the Lodi Corn Festival Parade Thursday night. Despite the high temperatures, we had a great turnout and a very supportive group of parade watchers throughout.

After the campaign went to the streets of Lodi, John was off to Austin, TX were he was a panel speaker for Veterans at The Netroots Nation! Four other politically active veterans joined him in discussion about our support for our troops and why we fight for veterans and their families.

The session was called "Taking the Hill: How Veterans are Changing the Face of Military Policy." John has fought hard for veterans in the Ohio state legislature, protecting their jobs when they return home, and creating the Military Injury Relief Fund to assist and support wounded soldiers. At Netroots Nation, he took on Washington's failure to stand up for our troops and veterans and offered his plans to fight for them when he goes to Congress.

The word from the street is that John Boccieri for U.S. Congress(OH-16) delivered an incredible speech. We will be bringing the highlights to you as soon as the NN releases them.

One reminder before we get into this coming week , we are looking for more volunteers to help us work the phone lines and knock on doors. We have phoning and canvassing opportunities every day of the week. If you are interested, give us a call or just stop by headquarters anytime (Monday-Friday) between 11AM and 7PM. (330) 754-0534

Before we review this past week, we want to tell you about an important event we will be holding this coming Wednesday. In Canton around 7 p.m., John will have a discussion with local community members about how the struggling economy is hurting our middle class.

We want you to come and share your own stories about rising prices, job losses, housing, health care costs, or any other part of the economic crisis that is affecting you and your family. If you're interested, please email Bryan
or call (330) 754-0534.
